Camberwell Primary School Melbourne

Camberwell Primary School was first opened in 1872. In 1991, the decision was made to establish a bilingual immersion program that now caters to 645 students (2017) from foundation to Year 6. As a State school, Camberwell Primary School delivers the Australian curriculum to all students.
The French speaking teachers, who come mostly from francophone countries, are bilingual primary school trained classroom teachers. The focus at Camberwell Primary is on quality teaching and learning where teaching in the first language is mirrored in the second language.
The students benefit from spending half of each day learning mathematics, science and literacy in the French language.
In 2013 Camberwell Primary School was awarded the LabelEducation, an accreditation awarded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and managed by the AEFE (Agency for the teaching of French overseas).
